The Predators Finish on a Flourish

Victoria Dock Rangers U13s | 1 |
Pocklington Predators U13s | 6 |
Playing their first East Riding Cup match today, the Pocklington Predators chalked up a convincing victory over Victoria Dock Rangers in an away match at hull to see them through to the next round.
Starting cautiously, the Predators took their time to get the measure of the Hull side, but get the measure they certainly did. With outstanding play in the mid field again by Huw Jones, Jamie Harvey and Ryan Gaughan, keeping the pressure on the host side and creating much of the opportunities for the attack that has proved successful for Pocklington this season. In defence, Nathan ‘Salty’ Saltmer gave his all with strong challenges that helped provide an almost bullet proof defence.
By the end of the first half the score-line had reached 1 – 2 Pocklington’s favour, with Rob Cooney notching up the first two of his hat-trick for the match, and Victoria Dock achieving their first and only goal.
The second half, after warming into the game, Pocklington began to outclass their opponents, moving the ball around like a professional side. The next four goals were scored by Rob Cooney, George Pilkington, Ed Borrie and Joe Aconley.
The first starting with skilful play and passing from Harry Crusher and George Pilkington to allow Rob Cooney to bag his third goal. The next goal was from George with a strong run to give himself time enough to take a careful and calculated shot that would always find the back of the net. The fifth saw George and Rob working together like a well-oiled machine culminating with George taking a shot across the goal mouth, beating the keeper and allowing Ed Borrie to open his personal score sheet. The sixth and final goal was no less a contribution as a shot from Rob struck the crossbar that Joe Aconley pounded into the top corner.
Given more time, the score-line would certainly have ballooned in Pocklington’s favour, such was their dominance. A well-earned and deserved victory.
