Team Background & History
Progressing from the infant teams, the Pocklington Town Predators have enjoyed steady success over the years. Managed and coached by Joe Cooney and Dave Hughes, their approach and attitude to the game have exemplified the what good, honest football is all about.
Many of the team's members have been with the Predators since its inception and have witnessed, first hand, the rise through York Mitchell Soccer League and into the York City & District Association Football Minor League. This rise culminated in a near league victory in the 2010/2011 season as they finished the season level-pegging with the Rawcliffe Tigers, current league champions. Sadly though, through goal difference, Rawcliffe pipped the Predators to the title. They didn't go home empty handed that season though, as they managed to win not only the League Cup trophy but also the FA Cup trophy, the first time this had been done in Pocklington in over 20 years!
The Predators have gone to win the League in both the 2011/2012 season and 2012/2013 season. This is a resounding achievement, both for the club and the team. As the 2013/2014 season gets under way, the Predators will be looking firmly on the league title again, as they continue to inspire other teams within the club to attain higher achievements for themselves.
As the team develops and grows, it is a wonderful indictment on the management and coaches that they are constantly strive to improve the boys' skills while maintaining a healthy and positive attitude to the game. That they provide opportunities for the boys to be scouted and that they actively encourage opportunities outside the club as well as from within.
