The Social Club

Welcome to the Social Club

Welcome to the Pocklington Sports and Social Club, we are a members club and the social side of the Playing Fields Association. We have a full time steward, Mr Gebs Brigham and offer Bar facilities to members.

At present we are a steering committee and are looking for other committee members to join us. In the past we have held various discos, kids Christmas parties, live bands and rounder’s days throughout the year. We also have a xmas eve members night (with discounted drinks). Due to a lack of support on the committee (only 3 committee members only), unfortunately Members functions no longer happen as much as we would like.

All patrons of the bar need to be fully paid up members (this is a legal requirement and one of the conditions of our licence). Membership is £5 per year for all persons over the age of 18. Memberships are due 1st September each year.

One of the most commonly asked questions is, why do I need to be a member of the social club, when I already pay training fees for Football. This is because the football club and social club are different clubs. The structure of the Sports and Social clubs is, as below

Pocklington playing fields committee – This committee represents all clubs at the Henry Thirsk Amenity centre, (Football, Hockey and Social)

Under the umbrella of the Playing fields committee, are the football club, Hockey club (at present due the league the hockey club play in, they play at the Grammar school) and Social club. Each club is run on an individual basis, although they do work very closely together.

Benefits of being a member of the Social club.

The benefits of being a paid up member of the Social club are, you are entitled to use the bar facilities, you can book the facilities for private functions, Free monthly members draw throughout the football season. To book the Function room for a private party please telephone Gebs on 01759 303638.
