Superb Performance

Pocklington Predators U13s      8
Easingwold Town U13s      1

Playing host to Easingwold the Predators knew that this could prove to be a potential banana skin in their quest to move into the 3rd spot in Division 1.

The game plan from the start was to exploit the highline of a well drilled Easingwold defence. Pocklington did not disappoint. After 4 minutes the breakthrough came. Jamie Harvey, from the right, threaded a well weighted pass through to Robert Cooney who muscled off the defender to slot the ball into the corner.

The Predators hungry for another released wave after wave of attack. After 23 minutes the relentless Pocklington pressure paid off. George Pilkington won the ball in midfield and put Robert through one on one, who made no mistake.

Goal 3 was soon to follow with Robert securing his hatrick from a great cross from Ryan Gaugan. Easingwold started to show their mettle and launched several counter attacks but the assured Harry Crusher, Nathan Saltmer, Mathew Terry and Stewart Wright took the opportunity to turn defence into attack with some excellent distribution from the back.

The Predators were now firing on all cylinders with Huw Jones and Ryan pulling the strings in midfield and newly substituted Ollie Hughes and Sam Flinton linking well with Joe Aconley on the left to create even more chances.

Tom Corner the Pocklington ‘keeper had to wait until 5 minutes into the second half before making his first real save, parrying a well struck left footed shot around the post. The last quarter saw two well finished goals from Ed Borrie and one each for, George and another for Robert to cap what was an excellent all-round team performance.
