Predators Continue Winning Streak

Fulford U13s | 0 |
Pocklington Predators U13s | 2 |
Playing away on a cold and heavy pitch this weekend, the Predators found it tough going to beat rivals Fulford, but as their confidence grew, it was remarkable that the score-line didn’t reflect a higher difference in the end.
Fulford opened the match and, with home advantage, took Pocklington a little by surprise, giving keeper Alex Varley opportunities to show off his talents with several tough challenges. With the pitch slowing the progress, it took every ounce of the Predators’ resolve to stem the tide and turn the game around into their favour.
With the game now playing fairly even each way, Pocklington were able to start moving the ball around with the flair that has characterised their play this season. This began to create the opportunities that the Predators’ attacking game enjoys so much. It wasn’t long before a tenacious run and cross from Rob Cooney gave George Pilkington the opportunity to turn the ball around and bang it home into the back of the net. Buoyed from a 1 – 0 lead, Pocklington were finding their form quickly, and soon began to dominate play, with Ryan Gaughan, Jamie Harvey and Sam Flinton all working the ball hard in the mid-section.
The second half proved no less exciting with Pocklington pressuring Fulford from the outset. The predators created so many opportunities for themselves, but it was Ed Borrie’s charge up the right wing and cross to George Pilkington that sealed Fulford’s fate.
The final score of 2 – 0 to Pocklington was an excellent result against such worthy opponents as Fulford and now pushes the Predators to second in the league so far.
