Predators Through to Next Round
30 Jan 2011
Pocklington Predators U13s | 6 |
York Cubs U13s | 1 |
For this, the second round in the League Cup, Pocklington were drawn against the York Cubs in what proved a convincing 6 – 1 victory for the Predators. By half time, George Pilkington and Harry Crushers had realised one goal apiece, while Robert Cooney converted the remaining four, two in each half.
The York Cubs gave up a spirited and challenging match, but, on the day, the Pocklington Predators proved too potent for the visitors. This was, no doubt, due in part to the new positions played. With Nathan Smith back up into mid-field again from his normal position co-ordinating the defensive line, created new and exciting opportunities for the attack. The defensive positions were filled with Ryan Gaughan and Stuart Wright, both of whom made outstanding contributions and were responsible for stopping any of the Cubs attacks in its tracks.
In the final analysis, the York Cubs played well; never letting the deficit lower their spirits, but the day was all Pocklington’s and sees them through to the next round in the cup challenge.
