Predators Unstoppable in FA Cup Quarters

Having departed the Tesco Cup last week, Pocklington needed a win this week to stay in the FA cup and move through to the semis. That’s just what they did in this Sunday’s away match to Bishopthorpe White Rose. With a fulltime score of 4 – nil to the Predators, there was never going to be a question over their progression this time round.

The game started with Pocklington dominating much of the play, but the tough defence of the home side only allowed a half-time score of 1 – nil to Pocklington, compliments of what appeared to have been an own goal from a pressured goal mouth.

The second half saw the Predators play as a single, well-oil machine, from keeper Alex Varley right through to front-line, their teamwork and passing was seamless. Although the backline of Matt Terry, Nathan Smith and Nathan ‘Salty’ Saltmer was all but impregnable, much of the attacking opportunities came from the mid-field, with many a well timed and accurate pass.

The second goal came from a corner from Jamie Harvey that Ryan Gaughan netted convincingly from the near post. The next came from Rob Cooney who skilfully lofted the ball over the keepers head in an unrushed and effortless move. The fourth and final goal came from George Pilkington as a loose ball rebounded from Joe Aconley’s powerful shot which almost beat the keeper.

Through to the semi-finals, the Predators face up to Fulford on Sunday 20th February at 1.45pm at the Pocklington ground.

The Pocklington Predators are sponsored by local high street retailer Footloose.
