In near perfect conditions, Pocklington resumed their league challenge with a 1 – nil away victory over 6th place Bishopthorpe White Rose.
Despite the conditions and the 10 man Bishopthorpe squad, the Pocklington Predators gave a subdued performance in which they were only able to draw 1 goal clear of the home-side. This came just before half-time as the Predators turned up the pressure culminating in a winning cross from Ben Potter into the goal area allowing George Pilkington to beat the defence and keeper.
Even though Bishopthorpe started with 10 men, this did not dampen their spirits, as they took on each Pocklington offensive challenge. With the benefit of a full squad, the visitors managed to maintain the bulk of the possession.
Pocklington kept turning the screws with some spectacular shots from Nathan Smith and Huw Jones, but it was outstanding play from Harry Crusher and Sez Altin that made the biggest impression.
In the final analysis, 1 – nil was all it took to secure the winning points to start closing in on that all-important league victory.
