Predators Prevail In Hard fought Battle

02 Apr 2013

Brooklyn U15s      3
Pocklington Predators U15s      4

With a backlog of fixtures, Pock Predators travelled to Brooklyn on Tuesday evening. This turned out to be a very tough encounter, Pock started with purpose and within five minutes were 1-0 up thanks to Sez, who fired a low shot into the corner of the net. Pocklington looked to be in control of the game, moving the ball around swiftly on a 3G surface which they only play on maybe once a year. With the back four of Matty, Stuart, Eric and Jamie along with Sam in goal not really being troubled. The surface may have played a part in Brooklyn’s first goal, with a bit of a mix up, Brooklyn managed to break through and level it up 1-1, However the Predators responded with a great team goal. A ball played out from the back by Stuart to find Eric, leading to great set up play between Nathan and Huw found a through ball to Ed, who finished with great confidence to make it 2-1.

Shortly afterwards a very bad tackle on Sez meant he could no longer take part in the game. But credit to Pocklington they did not let this affect the way they were playing. Their positive attitude of attacking led to a corner which was beautifully swung in by Stuart and found Danny who volleyed it into the top corner to make it 3-1.

Once again the surface played a part in Brooklyn’s second goal, but in fairness the striker finished well, to make it 3-2. Then  Harry, Joe and Olly combining found the excellent run of George who calmly made it 4-2, with the Predators looking in control but this would still not be the end of the story as Brooklyn got a consolation through a goal line scramble to make it 4-3.

The score line did not reflect on Pocklington’s dominance of the game and credit must be given to the whole team for maintaining their discipline. Thanks to the parents as well as Wheelies Cycles our sponsors.
