Predators Victorious in Tense Game

14 Apr 2013

Easingwold Town U15s      1
Pocklington Predators U15s      4

With chances being made at both ends, this Sunday’s match away match against Easingwold was drama filled and full of tension.

Arriving at Stillington on a windy morning, the alternative venue for the match, tensions were running high as Pocklington struggle to maintain their unbeaten run and Easingwold were looking to improve their current 4th place.

As the match opened, both teams found themselves creating chances for one another, but it was the Pocklington Predators that opened the score sheet with charge up the left by Ben Potter who managed to side-step the defence and slotted the ball in behind the keeper.

With teams playing hard, Pocklington were awarded a free-kick just inside the Easingwold half. Driving the ball against the wind, Jamie Harvey managed to bring the ball down just above the cross-bar for a near miss.

Easingwold were awarded an equaliser after the Predator’s conceded a corner, raising the tension yet further. With such a strong attack from the home-side, keeper Sam Flinton was able to demonstrate his skills and command of the goal area with several gutsy and superb saves.

Pocklington tend to raise their game against tougher opposition, and this was displayed as both teams battled through to the half-way mark.

The second half saw the Predators step up their game still further with incisive strikes from Danny Shaw and George Pilkington. A wonderful through ball by Alex Varley, opened an opportunity allowing Shaw find the back of the net.

Other near misses by Varley and Ed Borrie heightened the expectation for another goal. We were not disappointed as a throw to Harry Crusher who found Varley and on to Potter and then onto Shaw to notch up his second.

Shaw concluded his hat-trick with a driving charge to leave the Easingwold keeper wanting.
