Easingwold Town 0 - 4 Pocklington Town

17 Nov 2013

After picking up our first league win against York Cubs Pock were ready to pitch themselves against Easingwold town who were sharing points with us in the bottom half the table.

We started well, Sam up front again for the injured Joe, soon scored after a superb cross from Tom on the right which was steering its way to the far post, Sam made sure it went in with a leaping header.  Their back four were very physical and made it hard work for the forwards but after another goal mouth scramble, Josh made it 2:0 after just 11 minutes with a fine volley into the left hand corner.  Easingwold then seemed to spark into life, Harry worked hard at the back in his sweeper role, cleaning up balls as they filtered through, no one could match him for pace.  Jonny and Cameron worked well together in defence and James was his usual solid self at right back.  Pocklington made it to the break 2:0 up but only after some superb goalkeeping from Louis who tipped the ball onto the crossbar.  His positioning, communication and interceptions were spot on to day, he seemed determined that nothing was going to get past him.

The second half saw some reorganisation with Sam dropping back to left back and Eddie up front.  Again Easingwold were at us but some good midfield work from Owen, Josh and Wraggy (who was left right and centre midfield today) kept them at bay.  Alex soon took a good solo goal and Eddie eventually with some good footwork after the keeper palmed away a shot managed to place the ball in the back of the net.  Harry unfortunately took a bad knock in the last 10 minutes, Jonny and Cameron shored up the central defence and Louis again stepped up to the mark with a superb diving save.  All in all an excellent team performance, everyone pulled their weight but the man of the match must go Louis for almost certainly the best goalkeeping performance of his footballing career so far!  Well done Louis.
