Predators Cause Fulford Problems

19 Feb 2012

Fulford U14s      2
Pocklington Predators U14s      4

Pocklington Predators played Fulford and, after losing to Brooklyn and having had games called off
due to the weather the Predators were eager to put things right.

Pocklington started the brighter of the two teams with Sam in goal and the back four of Matt Terry,
Nathan Saltmer, Eric Hogan and Stuart Wright playing some good football and, we could tell it
shouldn't be too long before the deadlock was broken. Salty put a ball though to Harry Crusher on
the wing who controlled the ball well and fed a great ball through to Rob Cooney who gave the
Fulford keeper no chance.

With Nathan Smith and Joe Aconley dominating the midfield and Jamie and Rob working well
together up front and runs from both Ed Borrie and Harry, Pocklington were causing Fulford lots of
problems. Then came a neat through pass from Rob to Jamie whose unstoppable shot made it 2-0.
This seemed to be a wakeup call for Fulford as they sprung to life and began to play some good
football and they were quickly back to 2-2. The addition of Ben Potter caused Fulford a new
problem, and the Pocklington team began to retake control of the game, with simple passing and
movement putting Fulford on the back foot. They began to make mistakes and then Harry latched on
to a chance to catch the keeper of his line and with a great strike finished from about 30 yards out.

Despite going down to ten men due to injuries the Pock lads worked tirelessly to maintain the lead
with a great work ethic throughout the team. Another combination between Rob and Jamie led to
the keeper fumbling a shot and a great finish from Ed made the score line 4-2 sealing the win for the
Predators.
