On a very wet, cold and windy day at Tadcaster Pocklington Predators completed their League
programme, coming away with a great result. The appalling weather conditions meant that it wasn't
a day for pretty football but, in fairness, all those involved, on both teams, did try to pass the ball
around. Although not one of the Predators most fluent performances, the lads battled hard and put
their hearts and souls into this victory.
With Harry having to come off early due to injury it wasn't going to be easy for the lads but Sam set
up the opening goal with a quick throw out to Nathan Saltmer who passed a quick ball to Ben ,
finding Rob who ran to the by- line and crossed to pick out Huw who finished well.
The back four of Wright, Hughes, Hogan and the outstanding Harvey, were doing a great job of
cutting out the threats offered by Copmanthorpe and were unlucky to concede when the weather
conditions played a part enabling a ball to skid through for Copmanthorpe to score. However, the
Predators responded yet again as Ed ran tirelessly, Ben chased down every ball and Salty kept driving
forward. After scoring the second goal Rob dropped deep to help strengthen midfield and Huw who
had covered every part of the pitch put a great ball through to Salty who made no mistake driving
the ball into the bottom corner of the net to leave the final score at 3-1 to the Predators. Great
performance by all those who played and thanks should also go to the Spectators and especially to
Neil Dexter who refereed the game.
Our thanks also go to Footloose our sponsors.
Next stop for the Predators is the FA Cup Final to be held at Bootham Crescent at 7.30 pm on the 9th
May. All support welcome!
